About Me!
Hello,

My name is Jacey Loew. I am attending Iowa State University, majoring in Architecture. I am currently in my Fourth year. I plan to minor in business as well. Someday I plan to own my own Architecture firm. Go big or go home, right?
I was born and raised in Carroll Iowa. I have always had so much love and passion for the arts and of course Architecture.
Some activities I participated in Highschool were dance team, choir, show choir, speech, art fairs, volunteer work, and so much more. I love to keep myself busy and involved.
I enjoy running my side business as a makeup artist and a custom drawing artist. I have been a makeup artist for over 6 years now. I have done makeup for weddings, prom, fashion runways, and photoshoots. i love building clientele and help people to feel their best on special days. As for my custom drawings, i have done them for around 5 years now. i love being able to provide personal artwork to people. as an artist, i enjoy expressing myself and my abilities while still providing someone a meaningful piece of artwork they can cherish forever.
I also enjoy activities such as singing, dancing, acting, playing my ukulele, horseback riding, hiking, volunteering, and traveling.
Education
I attended Kuemper Catholic Highschool, transferred to Carroll Highschool, and graduated in 2020.
School has always been a top priority for me. I was on the honor roll and National Honor Society with a GPA of 3.9
I took dual credit classes through Dmacc, taking nine college credit classes in high school. I took AutoCad and Architecture classes through Dmacc, which is how I found my Major and where my passion for architecture started.

I was very involved in high school. I was on the dance team and made the top six. I was rewarded with a solo and the opportunity to compete at Solo State. I got a division one rating. I also danced at state dance for three years. I also was involved with studio dance at Fusion Dance in Carroll. I took Jazz, Ballet, Tap, Hip-hop, competition Hiphop, and Ballet Technique. I also taught dance to kids ranging anywhere from 3-15 years old. I taught Jazz, Tap, Hip-hop, competition Hiphop, and Pom.

I also was involved in Choir and Show Choir, where we also went to state.

I was in speech acting. I did One Act, Improv, and Readers Theater, all throughout high school. I made it to state every year in every act. I also helped with school productions.

Now I am currently at Iowa State University studying Architecture. I plan to minor in business. My expected grad year is 2025.

Volunteer Work
I have always loved to volunteer. I had done a lot through my church such as food drives, serving masses, babysitting, and much more. But, my favorite volunteering experiences have to be with Summer Fun Camp and Hertko Hollow.

SUMMER FUN CAMP
HERTKO HOLLOW
Summer Fun Camp is a summer camp for children with disabilities. I have volunteered countless summers here, spending time with these children. In high school, I helped in the adaptive PE classes, which helped me fall in love with spending time with these children, whom most people don't understand.
I was responsible for doing fun summer activities with the kids. This camp allowed these kids to enjoy summer with people who understood them. I am thankful I could be a part of that experience for them AND FOR THE EXPIERENCES IT BROUGHT ME. AS A TYPE ONE DIABETIC I UNDERSTAND FEELING DIFFERENT AND HAVING A DISEASE CONTROL MY LIFE. IT IS VERY INSPIRING TO ME THAT THIS KIDS CONTINUE TO GROW AND NOT LET THEIR DISABILITIES TAKE THE ENJOYMENT OF LIFE AWAY. THEY ARE RESILIENT, STRONG, HARD WORKING, AND SO MUCH MORE. i BELIEVE ANYONE CAN LEARN FROM THEM AND BE INSPIRED LIKE I WAS. i BELIEVE IT IS SO IMPORTANT TO TRY TO UNDERSTAND PEOPLE'S STRUGGLES IN LIFE. i KNOW I HAVE GREAT APPRECIATION WHEN PEOPLE TAKE THE INITIATIVE TO LEARN MY ILLNESS. i WILL ALWAYS TRY TO DO THE SAME WITH ANYTHING WHETHER IT BE RACE, RELIGION OR POLITICAL VIEWS, OR GENDER,
The past two summers I have volunteered at a summer camp for diabetic children. This camp is very near and dear to my heart because I attended this camp as a diabetic. In the summer of 2022, I became a counselor. I cared for diabetic children for two weeks while also doing fun summer camp activities. I also received an award for best staff of the week, even though I wasn't a staff member for Y-Camp. I was just a volunteer. I loved helping children the way I was helped when I attended. It was an amazing experience to be a role model for children in their everyday lives and their medical lives. being a diabetic i have learned so much about life, at an early age. it prepared me for things no one should have to deal with on a daily basis. it is very hard to live with a life long disease that effects every aspect of your life. but, I wouldn't change it, because it had made me such a strong, mature, independent, and compassionate human. it is who I am and I am proud of it. this is why I'm a counselor. I get to help kids get to that point in their health journeys. I love it so much I went back in the summer of 2023. i have a true passion for giving back to my community of people.
